Employer experience uplift and alignment
Figuring out how to refresh the SEEK experience, across multiple teams and multiple stakeholders with different motivations.
ROLE - DESIGN LEADER | FOUR PRODUCT TEAMS | SEEK

The context
The seek employer experience was functional and feature rich, but uninspiring. Parts of the experience had gone in different directions over the years and there was a lack of consistency and finesse across the employer registration and job posting experience. It was clear to me that a refresh and uplift was needed, independent of just feature addition. However getting by-in from stakeholders and the wider organisation for ‘just’ design uplift, was a real challenge, especially when there is a back log of other work.

The SEEK job posting flow before investing in the visual uplift
Leaning into the design system as an enabler for teams
One of the ways to effect change was to use the design system as leaver for uplift work in general. At that time the SEEK design system was growing in maternity but was not universally used. Pushing teams and PMs to use, adopt and re-factor with our design system with speed of development as justification, was a way to rebrand an uplift for much of our product experience.
Multiple teams, multiple drivers of refinement and iteration
This was a large program of work across many teams and work was running alongside feature development with expectations from the business. We invested in our design and critique practices during this time to refine and improve what we released.

Outcomes
Over three quarters we were able to achieve a dramatic improvement in the experience across the core job posting flow. At the conclusion of this work (alongside other work the teams delivered) we saw meaningful impacts on core metrics, with 2%, 18% and 54% improvements in core conversion metrics.
Strong engagement and an awesome team
Investing in team health and culture is really important to and over the course of this work we built a close team together. During this time, my team had the highest engagement metrics in the company.

This was an awesome team to be part of and I have many fond memories!
